Leadership and Management Development Framework
South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is committed to providing the support and development to all of its leaders and managers to be the very best they can be. This page has been designed to ensure that all staff members have the opportunity to maximise their full potential by providing access to training opportunities for all levels.
In essence, you may be an aspiring leader/manager working with your first team, or a senior leader/manager in the HSCP managing a team, a service, or a directorate. You may be a Clinical Lead, a Team Leader or involved in leading a change initiative. Whatever your role, you should ensure that you review the criteria applicable for each level and discuss and agree with your line manager that you are applying to undertake development at the appropriate level.
The learning and training are developed and distributed across four levels to provide a progressive structure for the development of effective leaders and managers at all levels within the HSCP.
- Level 1 (Core) - Training aimed at aspiring or new supervisors and managers or who had no, or little training in this discipline. This aims to provide the core training required for their appointed post.
- Level 2 (Operational) - Training aimed at consolidating managers and those who are responsible for providing management and leadership to multi-disciplinary teams or departments.
- Level 2 (Operational Specific) - This level provides bespoke leadership and management opportunities that relate to specific areas of practice.
- Level 3 (Transformational) - Targets service or divisional managers and who may have had some responsibility for providing strategic management and leadership.
- Level 4 (Strategic) - Focuses on senior with responsibility for governance and providing a higher level of strategic management and leadership.
Additional support for leadership development is available online at the Scottish Social Services Step into Leadership Programme which provides leadership learning pathways for Scotland's social services. The website will help you find resources and information. There are specific pathways for managers and corporate and strategic leaders which provide a guided approach to developing your learning pathway.
