What is Long Covid?

Long Covid is a blanket term which includes both ongoing Covid-19 symptoms and new symptoms which may develop as a result of infection. Long Covid can affect people of any age and background, including children, regardless of the severity of their original symptoms.

As Long Covid is an emerging condition, there is a lot we don't know about how it works and affects people in the long run. However, as the situation goes on, and the people who have Long Covid symptoms share their experiences and stories, we are developing a better understanding of what Long Covid means and how we can manage it.

HARP Covid Rehab

The HARP Covid Rehab team is a Pan-Ayrshire support service for Long Covid, the team offers self-management tools, strategies and support to help those in Ayrshire living with Long Covid to manage their symptoms more effectively. The team is made up of  a Nurse Specialist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Psychologist who work together to offer support.

To access the service you must have been investigated by your GP or a hospital doctor. Please see your GP to investigate your symptoms and confirm a diagnosis of Long Covid, then your GP can refer you directly to HARP Covid Rehab.

Face to Face clinics are available in Irvine, Kilmarnock, Cumnock, Troon and Ayr. Alternatively appointments can be provided virtually.
