Next steps for the Fort Street supported living complex

The South Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP) are delighted to receive the keys to the new housing development, Fort Street in Ayr. Local councillors were invited for a short tour around the facility by the building's architect as part of the handover of this facility to the HSCP.
Fort Street has been developed in partnership with South Ayrshire Council's Housing team to provide a new supported accommodation facility. The accommodation has been specifically designed for adults with physical and mental health illnesses in South Ayrshire.
Billy McClean, Head of Community Health and Care Services said, "We are so grateful to have received the keys for Fort Street, I would like to thank South Ayrshire Council's Housing team for their hard work in making this a reality. This new complex will make a huge difference to some of our residents who will be given the opportunity to live independently in a safe environment."
The development consists of eleven 1-bedroom properties offering modern accommodation in the heart of Ayr town centre. Each new home has been designed to suit the needs of the individual, helping to support residents in a way that promotes independence as well as reducing risk.
Councillor Dettbarn, Chair of the South Ayrshire Integration Joint Board added, "Great work from all those involved. I was delighted to see the new property in person and I will be looking forward to seeing the difference Fort Street will make to our South Ayrshire residents."
The South Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership is now in the process of commissioning a new service which will provide on-site 24 hour support to residents. A responsive support base is located within the complex which will be staffed by this new support provider.
Councillor Saxton, Housing and Community Wellbeing Portfolio Holder said, "The next step of recruiting the right service provider is crucial to the success of Fort Street. Supported living facilities are a fantastic resource, allowing residents to live as independently as possible, while providing a helping hand where required.
"I wish all the best to the new residents when they receive their keys and start their journey at Fort Street."
