Spreading festive cheer with the Ayrshire Family Nurse Partnership

Ayrshire Family Nurse Partnership

The Ayrshire Family Nurse Partnership, hosted by the South Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has been working closely with a number of charities and organisations to bring festive cheer to local families in the west of Scotland.

The Family Nurse Partnership is a service dedicated to supporting first time young parents and their families. This year the partnership have nominated 121 families to receive a number of festive gifts over the next few weeks, this includes mothers and babies from across all three Ayrshire areas as well as a number of families from Dumfries and Galloway.

The first of these gifts arrived at the South Ayrshire HSCP head office ready for delivery, a red Christmas Eve bag from the charity, 'Night Before Christmas'. Each bag has been created for specific age ranges and are full of gifts and treats for the children in the family.

Abi Nicholl, Family Nurse from the Family Nurse Partnership said, "Our families are so grateful for the fabulous gifts provided, it is a true privilege for us as a team to deliver on behalf of the charities."

Some families will also receive a food hamper from the South Ayrshire Food Bank, a toy from the South Ayrshire Toy bank as well as a gift card from the Giving Tree. Further donations have also been made by Hillhouse Care as well as East Ayrshire Community Churches.

Rosemary Robertson, Associate Nurse Director said,"I am blown away by the donations we have managed to arrange, the generosity being shown really is in the spirit of the season."

"Christmas can be a very difficult time for families, with the current cost-of-living crisis this stress has only been heightened this year, the support we have received from our partners and local charities has been phenomenal.

Jodie McFarlane, founder of Night before Christmas added, "'We are so pleased at the Night Before Christmas Campaign to be able to help the South Social Care Partnership provide first time mothers and their babies with support at Christmas."

"Christmas should be magical for all and we are pleased to be part of helping to spread Christmas cheer."

The Family Nurse Partnership team will be supporting the delivery of all the gifts over the next few weeks, keep tuned to their social media accounts to keep up to date with the latest news.
