Adult Support and Protection Awareness Day 2026

ASP Day 2026

Are you worried that an adult could be at risk of harm?

Residents across South Ayrshire are being encouraged to look out for vulnerable adults in their communities who may be experiencing harm, neglect, or exploitation.

Adult Support and Protection Day takes place on Friday 20 February 2026, and the South Ayrshire Adult Support and Protection Committee is calling on everyone to play their part. Even small concerns can make a significant difference to someone who may be unable to speak up for themselves.

Brenda Walker, National Adult Support and Protection Coordinator for Scotland, said: "We know it's hard to be the person who takes that step, and makes the referral for someone they are concerned about. Sometimes we assume someone else has probably done something about the concerns, especially if there are already some services involved with the adult, but you might just have the missing piece of the jigsaw that shows they need support and protection."

Jim Kerr, Independent Chair of the South Ayrshire Adult Support and Protection Committee, said: "The Adult Protection Committee in South Ayrshire is here to support the safety and wellbeing of our communities. Our teams are here for you, so please don't suffer in silence. Remember that not all abuse is physical, and if you're concerned about your wellbeing, get in touch with us. We all have a part to play so please be vigilant and do not assume that someone else has already reported an incident of harm or abuse; see something, say something."

If you're worried that someone is at risk of harm or neglect from others - or harming or neglecting themselves - please contact your local community care team on 0300 123 0900, or for out of hours support, call 0800 328 7758.
