The What Matters to You Roadshow visits South Ayrshire

Connect South Ayrshire is running a series of free community-focused workshops across South Ayrshire in May 2026. These sessions will be led by Tommy Whitelaw, the National Lead for Person Centred Voices at the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE).

Tommy will share valuable insights and experiences in the workshops. As a former carer, he will reflect on his own journey caring for his mum, Joan, who lived with dementia. The What Matters to You Roadshow aims to encourage empowerment and improvement for individuals, carers and families as well as service providers and practitioners by emphasising the importance of kindness and person-centred care, and by focusing on improvements in how we support one another.

Stewart Marshall, Head of Community Health and Care Services for South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, said:

The What Matters to You Roadshow is an ideal opportunity to reflect on what is important to you as an individual in a supportive, community-focused environment. I would recommend these workshops to anyone living or working in South Ayrshire or the surrounding areas. These workshops are free to attend and are an opportunity for meaningful conversation in a supportive setting."

Each workshop will last 1.5 hours and will be held in venues across South Ayrshire, including some sessions at weekends and evenings, so everyone has the opportunity to participate. There will also be a few online sessions for those unable to attend in person. All workshops are free of charge, it is recommended to book a space at your preferred session due to availability, however, the sessions will be open for drop-in on the day depending on space.
