South Ayrshire HSCP Podiatry Team shortlisted for national Royal College of Podiatry Award
South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership's Podiatry Team have been shortlisted for a national award which celebrates excellence and innovation across the podiatry profession.
The team has been nominated for the Podiatry Team of the Year category at the Royal College of Podiatry Awards 2026, which recognise individuals and teams making a positive difference through high‑quality care, leadership, collaboration and innovation. The awards are podiatrist led and community focused, shining a light on the contribution podiatry services make to communities.
The South Ayrshire team was assessed by an expert awards panel against a number of criteria. Nominations are confidentially reviewed and scored by experienced professionals from across the podiatry community. The team was recognised in their work to establish shared pathways and their practical management of patients who are at significant risk, this included those who have wounds, infection or amputations due to complications from diabetes or vascular conditions.
Judges recognised the team's strong collaborative culture, where staff work closely with one another and alongside wider health and social care colleagues to deliver person‑centred care. The nomination showcases how the team integrates a diverse range of skills and roles to ensure services remain effective, supportive and responsive to local needs.
The team was also commended for examples of clinical excellence, demonstrating consistently high standards of care, service innovations and measurable improvements in patient outcomes. Their work has focused on delivering safe, effective podiatry care while continually improving how services are designed and delivered.
Innovation formed a key part of the nomination, highlighting the introduction of new approaches, modernised models of care and improved processes that support timely access to podiatry services. These developments help improve patient experience while making best use of available resources.
A strong focus on health equity was also recognised, with the team demonstrating how podiatry services can reach underserved communities, remove barriers to access and promote inclusive practice across South Ayrshire.
Louise Gibson, AHP Senior Manager for South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, said: "This national nomination is a fantastic achievement for our Podiatry Team and reflects their commitment to working collaboratively, embracing innovation and ensuring that high‑quality care is accessible to all. The team consistently goes above and beyond to support patients across South Ayrshire, and it is excellent to see their work recognised at a UK‑wide level."
The Royal College of Podiatry Awards celebrate excellence across the profession, from frontline practice to innovation and leadership. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in June 2026.
