Care homes
Thinking about moving into a care home?
If you are thinking of moving into a care home firstly, you should contact your local social work office.
A staff member can assess your needs and help you decide whether moving into a care home is the right option. If your assessment shows that moving into a care home placement would be suitable, they can support you in finding an appropriate home.
If appropriate, they will involve the residential finance team regarding free personal or nursing care and arrange the financial assessment by referring you for the forms you need to complete. This assessment determines how much you will be expected to contribute towards the cost of your care.
Care homes are regulated by the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care (the Care Inspectorate). Care homes are regularly inspected by the Care Inspectorate and are graded from 1 to 6, the inspection reports are available to read online at the Care Inspectorate website.
