Family Nurse Partnership Service

FNP-national-logo-1024x378
Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is an intensive, one-to-one home visiting service delivered by specially trained nurses. It is designed to support young first-time mothers from early pregnancy up until the child's second birthday.

The programme aims to improve:

  • Maternal health
  • Child development
  • The economic self-sufficiency of your family

Family Nurses use a strengths-based approach with first time young parents. It helps to:

  • Develop your parenting capacity
  • Support you to make positive choices for you and your children

All young women of 20 and under having their first child are offered the service. We also offer the service to women up to age 25 who have previous care experience.

Family Nurses are based across Ayrshire and work alongside the woman's midwife and any other services that may be providing support.

They deliver the required elements of the Universal Health Visiting pathway as part of the programme.
