About us: What we do

What does South Ayrshire's Adult Community Learning Disability Service do?

We are a multidisciplinary team based in Arrol Park Resource Centre, Ayr.  We provide health and social care services that are supported by medics, OTs, nurses, social workers and social care staff.

  • We provide a Social Work Service comprising of Social Workers, Community Care Assistants, and Support Workers.

  • We have links with Day Care and building based services, Group Work, Volunteering Services, and Respite services.

  • We are also co-located with our colleagues from Health including Nursing, Psychology, Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.

  • We operate a cross-referral system as part of the holistic assessment process.

We want to help adults with a learning disability (also known as intellectual disability) to be as healthy as they can be, so they can live their best lives in the way that they choose.

We aim to help people with a learning disability to access regular services wherever this is possible, and provide specialist health-focussed services to those people with a learning disability who need it.

We also aim to support carers and other staff involved in providing care for someone with a learning disability.
