Technology Enabled Care (TEC)
Technology Enabled Care (TEC)
TEC uses simple and smart technology to support your health and wellbeing, helping you live more independently and safely at home for longer.
This can be anything from a basic personal alarm to sensors, apps and remote health monitoring - if it keeps you connected, independent or out of hospital, it counts as TEC.
What is Technology Enabled Care?
Technology Enabled Care (TEC) is any digital tool or service that helps you live well and safely at home. It can support you to:
- Stay in your own home for longer.
- Minimise safety risks in and around your home.
- Regain confidence and independence after illness or a fall.
- Return home from hospital sooner, with the right support in place.
- Get early help through monitoring and alerts, before problems become a crisis.
- Give reassurance - for you and for family, friends or carers.
Examples of TEC we can provide
Depending on your needs, TEC in South Ayrshire can include:
- Simple personal alarms and call buttons.
- Sensors in your home for fire, flood, gas or door security.
- Technology that monitors daily activity patterns and flags changes.
- Devices to support safer walking in the community.
- Equipment that can detect falls or epileptic seizures.
- Medication prompting devices and reminders.
- Environmental safety measures (for heat, cold or smoke).
