Statutory Throughcare

Statutory Throughcare is a service provided by Justice Social Work to prisoners who will be released on:

  • Life licence
  • Parole licence
  • Non-parole licence
  • Extended sentence
  • Supervised released Order

You will be allocated a Social Worker at the start of your sentence. They will see you during your sentence and supervise you when you are released.

Your Social Worker will also complete Home Background Reports for the Parole Board. This report is an assessment of the accommodation you intend to live at on release. The address will be visited by your Social Worker and anyone living there will be interviewed. On some occasions the proposed address will be assessed as unsuitable.

Your Social Worker may also report back to the Parole Board on your progress after you have been released from prison. You may be recalled to prison if you do not comply with your licence.
