Council Officer Training

Description

This course will enable practitioners to meet the statutory requirements to fulfil the role of the Council Officer.  Practitioners will gain a working knowledge of the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007, with a focus on the social work role in Adult Support and Protection.  

This course will support practitioners to develop their knowledge and understanding of theapplication of the legislation as it applies to adults who may lack capacity and those who experience a mental disorder.

Practitioners will build on existing knowledge of the roles of appropriate agencies and professionals within the framework of Adult Support and Protection and explore the assessment, management and reduction of risk, and the management of uncertainty in complex and dynamic situations. Practitioners will be able to confidently take actions to ensure individuals are protected and safe from harm.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at Qualified Social Workers who have completed an agreed minimum post qualifying practice period and who's Manager has agreed they should act as Council Officers.

Course Length

This is a 4-day training course.


How To Book:

Nominations for Council Officer training are collected by Mark Taylor, the ASP Lead Officer.  Mark will contact the team leaders nearer the time and team leaders will nominate the practitioners within their team who are eligible to undertake the course.

Please discuss the training with your Team Leader to secure your eligibility which they will be able to put your name forward once Mark has been in contact.
