Financial Support for Care
Financial process for Self-Directed Support
As part of Self-Directed Support (SDS), all care plans are assessed based on eligibility, in line with South Ayrshire HSCP Fair Access to Services and Eligibility Criteria. Social workers can also look at other types of support, like help that isn't personal care, if needed.
You might need to pay towards your care. This is worked out through a financial assessment by the Self-Directed Support Finance Team. Your social worker will explain this during your assessment and show how any costs are calculated based on your own financial situation.
Financial process for long-term care
If you need care in a place that provides support 24 hours a day, you'll have to help pay for it. How much you pay depends on a financial assessment done by South Ayrshire Council's Residential Care Finance Team.
Once it's confirmed that you qualify for 24-hour care, your social worker will send you (or your legal representative, like a Power of Attorney or Guardian) a financial assessment form. You must fill in this form and return it within four weeks. If you don't, your care arrangements could be delayed.
