Parental Mental Health and the Impact on the Child
Description
This one day course will allow participants to consider the impact of Parental Mental Health on families and how to support children and young people underpinned by the values and principles of the GIRFEC (Getting it Right for Every Child) and UNCRC approach.
Learning Outcomes
During this course, participants will:
- Recognise the impact of Parental Mental Health on child development
- Identify concerns and protective factors for children and young people in families where parental mental ill health is present (Trauma informed)
- Have an awareness of the policy, practice and the legislative framework surrounding mental health
- Understand the importance of a multi-agency approach when supporting families impacted my parental mental health
Who Should Attend
This course should be undertaken by staff working within Mental Health, Children, Young People and Families and/or where awareness of Parental Mental Health and the Impact on the Child would be beneficial to their roles
Course Length
This is a full day face to face session.
