What checks will you make on how I spend my individual budget?

Your social worker or care manager will meet with you to talk about how well your support plan is helping you make steps towards your personal outcomes.

You will need to keep a record of how you use your individual budget if you choose options 1, 2 or 4 (you can get as much help as you need with this by contacting AILN). If you choose option 3 you will have your budget managed by your social worker or care manager. You will be asked to return this information to the council for them to then check that the money if being used to support you with your agreed personal outcomes.

If you are unsure about what you can spend your budget on or need help to manage your budget then free help and advice is available through the Ayrshire Independent Living Network (also known as AILN) by click here to visit their website for more information.

What happens if I don't spend all of my individual budget?

This can happen if you are unable to use your supports for a short period, for example if you have to spend time in hospital or if you need less support than usual because your needs have changed. If this happen you should contact your social worker or care manager as soon as you can. They will chat to you about changes you can make to your support plan and also any changes to your individual budget if needed.
