Managing Discipline (COAST)

Programme Details, Aims and Objectives:

The course takes a blended learning approach. You must first complete the Managing Discipline module on COAST. This is an interactive e-learning module which covers:

  • Understand the content and application of the councils discipline procedures
  • Understand when to use the informal and formal procedures
  • Increase awareness of managers responsibilities
  • Gain an understanding and knowledge of the disciplinary investigation process
  • Understand the role of an investigating officer

Outcome:

On completing this course you will be able to:

 

  • Understand the content and application of the councils discipline procedures

 

  • Understand when to use the informal and formal procedures

 

  • Increase awareness of managers responsibilities

 

  • Gain an understanding and knowledge of the disciplinary investigation process

 

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of an investigating officer

 

  • Gain an understanding and knowledge of the disciplinary/grievance investigation process and the role of an investigating officer in the hearing

 

  • Develop competence and apply theoretical knowledge through the completion of case studies

 

  • Understand how to cope with common "Problems in Practice"
