Child Protection Level 2

Course Description

This course is designed to help those working directly with children who are at risk of significant harm and who will be part of The Team Around the Child to manage or indeed reduce these risks. The Course Looks at the risk factors using the GIRFEC Assessment Triangle, The National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland.  The Course also looks at the Legislation and Processes used to manage the risks of significant harm.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will have a greater understanding of risk factors, the Legislation and Processes used to protect children, as well as your responsibilities and role following your attendance at the various Child Protection Planning Meetings.  Participants will develop a greater confidence in working as part of the Team Around the Child in managing the risks of significant harm and indeed working together as part of that team, to reduce the risk of significant harm.

Who should Attend?

The course is mainly for those who work directly with children but, not exclusively.  This group would include: Student Social Workers, Newly qualified Social Workers, Support Workers. Support Assistants, Social Work Assistants, Residential Staff.  Participants from other Agencies who work with Children would also benefit from this Course.

Course Length

This is a 2-day training course.
