Telecare
What is Telecare?
In South Ayrshire we offer a range of Digital Alarm Units and Equipment to help you stay safe at home.
Telecare includes community alarms and sensors that monitor real time emergencies and lifestyle changes to support independent living.
Telecare, alongside a package of support such as home care; day care and meal deliveries can help reduce both the need for long-term care and the frequency of hospital admissions. Telecare also reduces the pressure on informal carers, family and friends, and speeds up hospital discharges once clinical needs are met.
Who Can Benefit from Telecare?
Telecare is available to individuals based on their assessed needs, including:
- Older adults.
- Adults with physical disabilities; epilepsy; dementia; mental mealth conditions and learning disabilities.
- Children with disabilities.
Telecare doesn't replace your family or carers who visit you at home. However, it can give you confidence to live at home safely knowing help is at hand when you need it.
If you are an unpaid carer, Telecare can provide reassurance the person you care for can get help when you're not available.
How much does it cost?
- The current charge for the community alarm service is £4.85 per week.
- The initial invoice will be sent after installation and monthly thereafter. (You can opt out of the paper invoices).
- The payment method options will be made available to you.
Please note our telecare staff will never contact you to request payment of money outwith your agreed invoice. Never provide your bank details over the phone as this could potentially be a scam caller.
